Double Oxidized Stablized High Grade Bisbee Squash Blossom Necklace Signed LS
Stone:
This squash blossom necklace features a cluster of beautiful high grade bisbee turquoise cabs. It has a good mix of sky blue, dark green, and some with deep brown webbing (rare, polished, stablized).
The bisbee turquoise was originally found from the Lavender Pit. The Lavender Pit is a former open pit copper mine near Bisbee in Cochise County, Arizona. It is located near the famous Copper Queen Mine. The Lavender Pit was named in honor of Harrison M. Lavender (1890_1952), who as Vice-President and General Manager of Phelps Dodge Corporation, conceived and carried out this plan for making the previously unprofitable low-grade copper bearing rock of the area into commercial copper ore. The mine produced not only millions of ounces of copper, but also, it produced rare materials such as Malachite and blue and green azurite. Turquoise was also a by-product of the mining activity. Bisbee turquoise, also known as Bisbee Blue, is amongst the finest turquoise found anywhere in the world. Mining operations in the pit ended in 1974.
Turquoise was hauled off to an area where the miners dumped their waste from the mining process. Only a few people recognized the beauty of the Bisbee Turquoise and they would sneak the material out of the dump. Over the days, Bisbee Turquoise was introduced to the Southwestern Jewelers. Starting from the 1960's, the value of bisbee turquoise begin to surge as consumers love the smoky matrix and the deep blue with a hint of copper brown in Bisbee turquoise. Today, if you come by genuine and natural bisbee turquoise, it is most likely worth at least 40 dollars a gram, more expensive than 24K gold.

My Philosophy:
I choose every piece of jewelry based on the value of the stone. Unlike most of the Turquoise on the market, the stone has to be high quality (not stabilized, not color treated and not reconstituted).
I also love jewelry with unique character and great craftsmanship. What this means is that you are getting jewelry that is a showstopper and not to mention a great investment.
