Stone:
Eye of the ocean is a one of a kind ring hand casted by Osmane Macina, a 10th generation metalsmith from Mali, West Africa. His work is displayed at galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he currenly resides. This ring is made with 13.65 grams of solid 18K gold (not plated). And total of 1 carat of mini SI grade white diamonds (167 diamonds total). The sleeping beauty turquoise in this ring is a real treasure as it is all natural never processed by any kind. The curved design makes the ring feel smooth on your finger, and of course it has with some weight in it to remind you of its existence.

Sleeping Beauty turquoise comes in a pure sky blue or robin's egg blue color and is relatively stable and suitable for jewelry making.

The Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Mine, located in Globe, Arizona, is one of the most famous turquoise mines and produces some of the most desirable turquoise in the world due to the purity of its color. The mine closed for a second time (first time in the early 1960s) in August 2012, which has skyrocketed the price of Sleeping Beauty Turquoise.

The mine's name comes from the mountain the mine is located in, which from far away looks like a sleeping woman lying on her back with her arms crossed.

Artist:
From a young age, Ousmane Macina was fascinated by jewelry making, observing his father melt, twist, and hammer pieces in his workshop. While he says he was initially more of a nuisance than helpful, he gradually honed the necessary skills for the trade. By the age of 18 he started working independently on his own pieces, and by 22 he had learned most, if not all, of the skills that had been passed down from one metal worker to another.

For 10 generations, Macina‰۪s family has created and sold a wide range of jewelry in Mali, West Africa. They utilize gold, silver, and brass to create necklaces and earrings that incorporate symbols of the Fulani Empire into their work. Originally a nomadic group, the Fulani partially settled in the Sudan, flourishing during the 19th Century and leaving behind a rich tradition of metal working.

My Philosophy:
I choose every piece of jewelry based on the value of the stone. Unlike most of the Turquoise on the market, the stone has to be high quality (not stabilized, not color treated and not reconstituted).
I also love jewelry with unique character and great craftsmanship. What this means is that you are getting jewelry that is a showstopper and not to mention a great investment.
